Green Shiso Seeds
Shiso is an absolute must for your international herb gardens! Other common names are perilla and beefsteak plant. Popular in Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Lao and Chinese cuisine. Shiso's incredible flavor can be described as a combination of cinnamon, mint, and clove with overtones of cumin.
We were first introduced to shiso as a flavorful ingredient in our Japanese onigiri (rice balls). Weve been hooked ever since. We add them to our tea, stir-fry, even in salad for an extra punch of flavor.
A beautiful, heat- and drought-tolerant bedding plant that attracts pollinators and is excellent for containers.
For best flavor, harvest leaves before the plant flowers.
When choosing between the green and red shiso leaves, the red has a stronger flavor and can be used to color pickled foods, as a rice flavoring and as a tea.
